Friends

Today I met some former work friends for lunch (I refuse to say "old friends" because we are not old!).  I hadn't seen them for about 10 months and after a 4 hour lunch of catching up, laughing, crying and solving all the world's problems, I just realized how incredibly blessed I am to have these women as my friends.

In November, 1994, I started working for Principal Financial Group. I started a friendship with four other women in my department - two of which have moved away, but the three of us have stayed in the area and we have occasionally gotten together over these last twenty years.  Even though we'd like to meet more often, the blessing lies in the fact that when we do get together, it doesn't seem like time has passed at all - we just pick up where we left off.

I think back over the last twenty years and it amazes me how we were in our twenties, now in our forties, and how much we have been through together.  We've seen each other through marriages, divorces, babies and raising kids, moving, losing jobs, losing parents, health issues, hairstyles and we only worked together in the same department for 18 months. 

Today I wish you a long-lasting friendship and if this brings a memory or two of a long-gone friendship...maybe it's time for a reconnection?
